This contest will be a lot different then our usual photo contest. I am looking to have "professional" shots submitted in this contest. We have a Flickr group now so adding them via Flickr is good or you can send them to me via email and I will ad them. Think of this contest as using your avatar as art. There are many places in SL to take great pics, it could be a cliffside, sitting in flowers or fence side in your yard.

~We are looking for a specific look this contest..think ...fashionista...chunky, skinny, short, tall, male female, it doesn't matter. Just have fun with the pics!

~You do NOT have to be a member of the IN WORLD group to participate so please pass on the contest info but you will have to join the Flickr group in order to add your photos.

~You must be wearing an item from the House of Heart main store or the HOH Mall located on Tropical Escape. All credits must be shown for all items worn..even if they are not from the HOH location.

~If you send photos to me in world, they MUST be full perms.

~Nudity TASTEFULLY done is acceptable, photos will be moderated. If you are not sure if your picture is acceptable please send a copy to Sheltered first to be sure.

~Submit as many photos as you would like. Once the contest is over there will be finalists chosen and an open poll will be put on the blog for voting.

~Use of Photoshop or Paint shop Pro is perfectly fine as well as adding graphics or images..providing the avatar is clearly shown.

There will be between 3 to 6 finalists. The pictures will be on the blog and there will be a vote, held open to anyone, on the winning picture overall. The contest period will run from June 21st to July 21st and the voting period will run until the end of July .

Contest, sort of:

1. Take a picture wearing anything from Ornamental Life. The funkier, crazier, cooler, prettier the picture the better. Photoshopping is encouraged. Do not add your name to the picture or any text for that matter.

2. Send me {Shir Dryke} the picture as either

(1) texture inworld - create a folder, name it "Poster - your name", put in a texture with full perms so I can add your name to it OR
(2) e-mail - subject "Poster - your name", copy it to the body of the mail and attach the file.

3. Glory and details: submit your entry during July. You may have up to three entries but please send them in all together. Each of the people who send me a picture following the guidelines will get a special item made only for them as a thanks on 1st of August. 4. General guidance - the key to good photography is first and foremost good ideas and quite close to that, good lighting. One thing that we've found that quite a few SLers have in common is the almighty Lolcat. Lolspeak has overthrown our grammar and icanhascheezburger.com has been banned from our workplaces because of…. well, us… checking every 15 mins for the best LOL of the day. SO, we got to thinking that we need a LOLtest! That was a horrid attempt at saying we need a contest where you make your own Lolcat picture out of an SL snap, enter it in the Second Life@: Who Let the Dorks Out? Flickr group pool and the winner takes 500L! It’s really easy with the help of fd’s Flickr Toys; you just upload a photo, write a caption and link it to your Flickr page. You have TWO weeks to get your LOL on and instead of Dork Of The Week on July 21st, we will have a Loldork Of Teh Week! You don’t have to BE a cat, just take any funny snap that you can match a witty caption (or capshun if we are being authentic here) with and run it through fd’s Flickr Toys. BLACKBEATS RADIO INFO AND HISTORY

Black Beats Radio (BBRadio), Streaming the Rhythms of Black Music All Around the World!

BBRadio broadcasts a wide range of music inspired by the beats from the African Diaspora since 2007. Tune in on the internet or from various locations in SecondLife. Broadcasting 24 hours per day 7 days a week. BBRadio DJs and musicians perform at various venues in the SecondLife metaverse. Live DJ events are broadcast usually in the evenings at SL locations as diverse as the music we provide from a large dance club or as small as Ms. Dibou's backyard. Listeners can tune in off-world at our website or hear us in-world.

In 2008 the CEO and Founder, Marjorie "Dibou" submitted the name "Black Beats Radio" and subsequent logo to the United States Trademark Office. Unfortunately, the request for exclusive rights to the name was denied by the Trademark Office. As a result, Black Beats Radio needs a new name. So the SugarHill Island Name That Station Contest was born.

You keep telling us how much you love RETROLOGY, now it's time to show us! Our first Anniversary is less than a month away and to celebrate we want to see just what you love about Retrology. And what better way than to share your amazing, funny and inspired photos!

Entries Must be submitted via the Retrology Flickr Group. And will be accepted between Sunday July 13th and Sunday July 27th. A Maximum of 10 entries will be accepted per Avatar/Flickr Account. "Hello and thank you for your interest in the SPIRIT Dazzlers Cheer and Dance Team. The SPIRIT Dazzlers is a team of cheerleaders, dancers, and spokesmodels who will represent SPIRIT with class, grace, and style at special events, paid performances, and charity events, model in upcoming SPIRIT catalogs, ads and fashion shows, appear in an annual team calendar, and perform in commercials and videos for SPIRIT. Ladies who are chosen to represent SPIRIT on the SPIRIT Dazzlers team will be paid for their participation at these events and modeling jobs, will have exclusive opportunities to build their modeling portfolios as few others can, and will receive many custom and prereleased SPIRIT designs while an active member on the team.

We will have 3 sections to the audition process, and we will make our final decision by July 31, 2008. Also attached is a breakdown of dates and an application.

1. Please create a folder named Dazzlers-(your name). In this folder please put the application and include 3 pics of yourself. 1 being a headshot, 1 being a full bodyshot and 1 being your favorite shot that will show us your personality. Please do not include nude shots.

2. The second portion to the auditions will be an invitation-only interview where you will be interviewed by SPIRIT Dazzlers Team Owner SavannahAnn McMillan and myself.

3. The third portion will be a tryout which will be a review of terms and moves. You will be given a move and you will just have to execute it in an order asked by the choreographer.

If you are chosen to become a member of the SPIRIT Dazzlers team, please be sure that the shape you send photos of is modifiable and one you are willing to dedicate exclusively to SPIRIT approved usage only.

2. JOIN the Zanphoria Group (you MUST join the group first)
3. PLACE YOUR PHOTO IN THE VOTING BOARD -choose any board you like. You will be given a choice of loading your profile pic OR loading by UUID. TO DO THIS, go to the pic in your inventory, right click and click “copy asset UUID” and then PASTE THAT IN GENERAL CHAT. That pic will then be loaded.

HOW THE CONTEST IS RUN AND HOW THE WINNER WILL BE CHOSEN:

Entries and voting will be ongoing beginning on the July 1st and closing on July 15th. On the 15th the four finalists will be announced and their information will be sent to the judges. Zanphoria Gallery owners will not be judging. We have a panel of 5 judges (people in the modeling, fashion, and publishing industries) who will decide the winner. The names of the judges are not released to the contestants. The 4 finalists will be asked to submit a notecard with additional photos. PLEASE NOTE, it is possible that the model among those 4 with the most votes might not be judged the final winner. The voting board will determine the 4 finalists only - the winner will be chosen by the judges.

We realize that sometimes the “voting” contest can be little more than popularity contests, however it is effective and the preferred method. We also believe it shows enthusiasm to encourage your friends and associates to support your modeling by giving you their vote. But we do try to balance that out a bit by using judging to determine the final winner. Do you need to be competitive with getting votes? Yes, of course you do, that is the very nature of a COMPETITION.

A FEW RULES
1. Voters will be allowed to cast two votes per day - and ONLY ONE PER DAY PER MODEL. CONTESTANTS MAY CAST A VOTE FOR THEMSELVES ONCE PER DAY.
2. Any votes cast by someone under 30 days old will be removed. This is not up for negotiation. If you have ton of friends who all happen to be new residents, I’m sorry. This is an ABSOLUTE necessity to discourage people from creating a ton of alts and to discourage the abuse of new residents in conning them to come and vote.
3. Accusing someone of cheating is an egregious thing. Do this ONLY if you have absolute proof.
4. If we discover you have paid anyone for votes, you will be disqualified.
5. ANY attempts to manipulate the board DONE BY YOURSELF OR ON YOUR BEHALF will result in disqualification. Please tell your friends to NOT risk disqualifying you.
6. If you were in our first contest, PLEASE take a new LM. The contest will NOT be held in the same spot and the third level of the Gallery is now closed and locked to the public.
7. I understand it is hard to juggle groups. You are not required to stay in the Zanphoria Group but you will not receive Contest notices unless you are. It is just too difficult to go searching for every contestant if a notice needs to be sent out.
8. Zanphoria reserves the right to postpone or cancel the contest at any time if a need presents itself.

Voting

1.) Voting is broken down into two categories.
a. Actual Votes
b. L$ Votes

2.) All voters when casting a vote will be asked to make a contribution of L$ toward the contestant
a. Minimum of 1 L$
b. Maximum of ( no limit )

3.) A voter can vote as many times as they like, but for actual votes category only one vote will be credited to the Contestant while all L$ conrtibuted to the contestant will count towards the contestants L$ total category.

4.) Each category carries a Rank.
a. Contestant receives a Rank for Actual Votes
b. Contestant receives a Rank for L$ contributed towards them

Example of Score Tally.

1.) If a Contestant has the 1st overall number of Actual Votes, they will receive a Rank of 1st in the Actual Vote Category
2.) If a contestant has the 1st overall L$ contribution, they will receive a Rank of 1st in the L$ Contribution Category
3.) Take each ranking and add them together ( 1+ 1 = 2 )
4.) Take the Total from both Rankings and Divide by the #2 ( 2/ 2 = 1 )

This gives the Contestant a Score of 1 and is ranked # 1 over all in the Contest

Other Examples:

Actual Vote Rank : 4th, L$ Contribution Rank : 2nd ( 4+2 = 6 ) /2 = 3 ( they will be ranked 3rd )
Actual Vote Rank : 2nd, L$ Contribution Rank : 4th ( 4+2 = 6 ) /2 = 3 ( they will be ranked 3rd )

This will require a tie breaker. Actual Votes becomes the Tie Breaker

The designer of the winning logo will receive a 5,000 L$ cash prize and eternal fame and gratitude :-D

A winning logo design will be immediately recognizable, distinguishable from a distance, elegant, meaningful, and easily adaptable to a wide range of sizes, shapes and uses.

You all should know by now that we are having a LET'S-SEE-HOW-MUCH-LLOYD-STUFF-YOU-CAN-WEAR-AT-ONCE CONTEST at Starlust, Dogtown, and the rest of the sim, Lloyd. There are three categories that you can enter. BEST UNCONVENTIONAL, BEST GLAM, AND BEST CASUAL. You can enter each contest, but you can only enter once. Now, you just need to sort through all the stuff you've gotten here, freebies and not so freebie alike. Then I want you to take some sassypants pictures, stick them in a notecard titled CONTEST, note what/who you are wearing after each pic and which category the pic belongs in. Once you have all of that, please drop the notecards to me, STEIN SHILOVA. If you just give me images not in a notecard, they will be deleted without warning.

Ok, now we get down to the stuff you should be paying attention to... There will be cash prizes. Yes, I said CASH! So far we are at 2000L for first prizes, 1000L for second, and 600L for third. Orange Island and Koinup are proud to announce the Orange Photo Week Contest

"One second of reality" aims to find out where reality begins for you. Try to mesmerize the jury and make us believe the photo was taken in RL.

Submissions will start on June 9th and will finish on June 23rd. Winners will be announced on Friday June 27, on Orange Island, on the closing day of our upcoming Photo Week.

Rules

In order to take part in this contest, you must have an account on Koinup. Registration is free and takes only a few seconds.
The theme of the contest is "One second of reality". The aim of the contest is to capture an instant of reality, and have viewers believe the photo was taken in RL.
The challenge here is to share with the community what for a second seemed real to you. We hope you will go beyond still-life shots and try to show us emotions are real, no matter where they happen.
Photos can be taken in-world using any available means (such as Second Life photo studios) except RL photographic backgrounds.
Photos can also be post-processed using programs such as Photoshop.
You are allowed to use tricks, and encouraged to share your technique. SLURL are welcome.
Photos should be submitted to the contest by posting them on Koinup. To submit a photo to the contest, please insert the tag

Photos already posted on Koinup before June 9th cannot be submitted to the contest. Please submit new works.
The contest is restricted to Second Life residents and is a photography contest; artistic media other than photography are not allowed.

There will be two winners.

Both will have the chance to participate to an exhibition in a RL gallery. La Cantine is a creative, experimental and innovative space dedicated to digital technologies, located in the center of Paris.

The winner of the Jury Prize will receive his/her work printed and framed in high quality format.
The winner of the "Community Prize", the coolest work on Koinup, will receive a complete package from Never 30 including a N30 studio, poses kit, lights... and more.

Winners of the "Jury Prize" will be picked by a jury composed of Margherita Balzerani, curator at “Le Palais de Tokyo”, Paris contemporary art museum, Marco Manray, renowned SL photographer and author of the book "Io, reporter in Second Life", and Vint Falken, award-winning SL photographer and distinguished Koinup member.

In order to select the winners, the jury will focus on assessing the following aspects:

Emotions (the photo's ability to fool the senses)
Realism (how realistic each photo is)
Technique (how instructive your trick description is)

Obviously aesthetics are key and will be considered.

Winning photos and a selection of runners up, will be published on the Orange Island and Koinup Blogs. So stay tuned for the announcement.

Winning photos will also be displayed on Orange Island (Orange 1, 195/134/30) for a minimum of three weeks.

After 3 years, I have decided to rename Pixel Dreams. With this renaming, along comes a move and rebuilding. Daphne Molinari of Daphne's Delights, Mirage , and I will be joining our sims and creating a large upscale city. A city where is just not shopping, but a multiple of facilities for various events. Many people have asked if I am getting rid of Pixel Dreams, no I am not. I am moving the sim beside Daphne's.

Pixel Dreams has had many faces, just taking a simple look on Snapzilla will show the many transformations it has gone through.

What will be on the new sim:

Shopping - Pixel Mode, all lines including prefabs, and furniture and a mens line called Just Him ( bringing it back after closing it 2 1/2 years ago)

Schmooze will stay - as its been a fixture of Pixel Dreams for 3 years.

Roller Rink

Teaching Center - this will be used to teach people how to build and give lessons on texture use.

Museum of Robots in Second Life announces the 'Build-a-Robot' Competition, and invites all residents to participate. All entrants receive a merchandise prize, with an additional 30,000 L$ cash prize pool awarded to the top 10 winners.

Our definition of 'robot' is unlimited: any design that you think can be called a robot is acceptable.

Entry Classes are: Standalone, Wearable, and Homage to Classic Robots.

There is a maximum limit of 100 prims per entry and entries may be scripted or unscripted. All residents are eligible to enter, including established designers and new robot builders. The emphasis is on original creations for the Standalone and Wearable classes. Homage to Classic Robots is for work that replicates existing robots or characters from film, television, or media.

To celebrate the release of The Artisan magazine those here on staff want to honor one of the communities artists by having a cover competition.

Rules of Entry:

1. Participants **MUST** post their entries on the Artisan Magazine Flickr Group and agree to release their entry for professional use as the first issue cover on The Artisan magazine.

2. The entry should just be an image that will be used for the cover of the magazine. Second Life images ONLY please and ONE Entry per account. The words and captions needed on the cover will be done by an Artisan staff member and will ensure that the font is suited to the theme of the piece.

3. Image will be sourced from the original size in the Flickr posting and will be resized if needed. But if possible make the image no larger then 1024 x 768 to prevent large resizing.

4. This is YOUR shot. YOUR cover. We are not looking for any particular kind of shot we just want to see what the art community as a whole can come up with. Something original. The WildLife Contest is the 1st contest entirely dedicated to non-human life in Second Life.

We are looking for the very best pictures of wildlife taken in Second Life. This Include Fantasy and Real Life equivalents, let your imagination go.

Rules

In order to take part in the contest you need to be a member of Koinup. Registration is free and takes only a few seconds.
The contest theme is wildlife or animal life in SL. You can submit photos in this two categories: Fantasy or Real Life Equivalents. Just as an example: a perfect remake of an elephant is a real life equivalent. A neko or a furry is a fantasy equivalent.

Three weeks ago we opened our newly redesigned sim, Emvee Cuba, and started taking entries for a photo contest. While I knew that we had created a beautiful space within SL, and I hoped that residents would enjoy it, I have been overwhelmed and impressed by the gorgeous and diverse art that SL residents have created using Emvee Cuba for a backdrop.

We’ve spent the last week in close deliberation, pouring through the more than FIVE HUNDRED amazing images people were generous enough to share with us and with each other. Each image was beautiful and precious and it has been an exceptionally hard decision, however, we promised prizes, so we had to choose! The winners are:

Contest Headquarters

1.) Contest runs from the 1st of the Month to the 1st of the next Month.
( ex. May Contest - Starts 1st May ends 1st June )

2.) Contestants are allowed to enter at any point of the contest. Free entry.

3.) Each Contestant must be a member of the Playmates Group. Free to join.

4.) If a Contestant withdraws from the contest at anytime, their votes and the poster will be removed immediately from the contest wall

5.) Contestants may not ask for Votes on Contest Property - If this is found out 1 Warning will be issued, 2nd time will result in disqualification.

6.) Contestants may not pay people to vote for them. If they are found out to be doing so, they will be disqualified with no refunds to the Contestant and or Voters. (Immediate Disqualification)

7.) Contestants may vote for themselves. Only one vote per person.

8.) Contestants may not solicit and pay Newbies to come vote for them. Any voters that are 2 weeks old or less will be investigated.

Picture Submission

1.) Each contestant will submit 3 total pictures for the theme of the month (minimum). All pics to be sent to Gary Glimmer

2.) By submitting pictures to Playmates you grant permission for them to be used in Magazines or Adverts.

Voting

1.) Voting is broken down into two categories.
a. Actual Votes
b. L$ Votes

2.) All voters when casting a vote will be asked to make a contribution of L$ toward the contestant
a. Minimum of 1 L$
b. Maximum of ( no limit )

3.) A voter can vote as many times as they like, but for actual votes category only one vote will be credited to the Contestant while all L$ contributed to the contestant will count towards the contestants L$ total category.

4.) Each category carries a Rank.
a. Contestant receives a Rank for Actual Votes
b. Contestant receives a Rank for L$ contributed towards them

Example of Score Tally.

1.) If a Contestant has the 1st overall number of Actual Votes, they will receive a Rank of 1st in the Actual Vote Category
2.) If a contestant has the 1st overall L$ contribution, they will receive a Rank of 1st in the L$ Contribution Category
3.) Take each ranking and add them together ( 1+ 1 = 2 )
4.) Take the Total from both Rankings and Divide by the #2 ( 2/ 2 = 1 )

This gives the Contestant a Score of 1 and is ranked # 1 over all in the Contest

Other Examples:

Actual Vote Rank : 4th, L$ Contribution Rank : 2nd ( 4+2 = 6 ) /2 = 3 ( they will be ranked 3rd )
Actual Vote Rank : 2nd, L$ Contribution Rank : 4th ( 4+2 = 6 ) /2 = 3 ( they will be ranked 3rd )

This will require a tie breaker. Actual Votes becomes the Tie Breaker

Monthly Winner

First prize - 50% of all money taken up to L$25,000
Second prize - 20% of all money taken up to L$10,000

This is a photo contest designed to showcase beautiful pictures. The picture should be the sexiest picture you can take. (NO NUDITY) This is a PG sim so please make sure you're pictures are appropriate. The Winners of the contests at the end of the contest time will receive 50k in lindens. (50 k best male 50 K best Female). There will be 100 contestants (50 male - 50 female)

Preferred picture size is 512x1024 due to the rectangular nature of the posters (other sizes are acceptable but your picture may look distorted) , and needs to be full Perm (COPY, MODIFY, AND TRANSFER....if NOT Full Perms, we cannot use it in the contest, and we will contact you for a picture we CAN use)

Money Island Hot or Not Rules!!!

1. What is the minimum vote? The minimum vote is 100 lindens, there is no maximum vote amount, again they can vote as much lindens as they like there is no maximum vote amount. Further, every 1000 lindens your picture gets counts as an extra vote. For example Steve gets 5 votes and 5k lindens voted, his overall score would be 10 votes.

2. I don't like my picture now that i see it next to some of the others, can i change it?
Sorry but no, you may not change you're picture or you're spot once you have entered and submitted your picture. That is the only picture that we will use you may NOT submit another picture.

3. If you withdraw from the contest at anytime, you will not receive a refund nor will the voters and the poster will be removed immediately from the contest wall.

4. Contestants may not ask for Votes on Contest Property. If this is found out (1) Warning will be issued, 2nd time will result in disqualification, with no refund of votes or money made to contestant and/or voters. Contestants only may wear a tag that says "vote for me". Teleporting people in and telling them where your picture is, is fine. Randomly IMing everyone that comes in asking for votes, is not.

5. Contestants may vote for themselves, Vote does not count but any L$ voted will count towards L$ contribution for that contestant.

Picture Submission

1.) Each contestant will submit 1 pictures.

Fashion Expo 2008 Model Search

The FASHION EXPO 2008 will be hosting a Fashion Show on June 7, 2008 in conjunction with the Fashion Expo that will be running from June 5-9th. A team of 3 judges will be choosing 10 models & 2 alternates to feature the ONE OF A KIND fashions/hair/jewelry/ specifically created for this event. All proceeds from these designs will go to the Relay for Life/American Cancer Society.
This will be a very high fashion NY City atmosphere including the catwalk. All custom built by the amazing Granite Outlander and a definite must see for all even if you do not wish to model. As you could probably figure out, we are VERY excited about this!

Submission Guidelines
Content: Your photos should include you and/or someone wearing/modeling my products ranging from hairstyles, clothing, shoes, and/or accessories. You do not have to wear all or nothing, but at least one item you are modeling should be by ETD.

Absolutely no nudity will be permitted.

Size: Please submit photos at the highest resolution possible. If your system can handle SL's "High Resolution Snapshot" feature please use that. Photos can be any size but no smaller than 512 x 512.

Post Work: If you decide to do post work in PhotoShop, please also include the original snapshot as well.

Labeling: With each submission, please include your full SL Avatar name (and the full name of any other person in the photo), the name and color of the ETD product you are wearing, the name of the photographer (in case you didn't take the snapshot) and the location.

Selected Photos: For photos that are selected and displayed in the store, the person who submitted the photo will get a Willow pack of hair or a fat pack of a clothing item or a fat pack of a pair of shoes....of their choice.

All photos submitted are subject to moderation and approval.

There's no real specifics this time around, for those who participated in my photo contest,a few months ago, remember that I had specific things in the shot that I was looking for. This time, I'm just looking for:

Q: Is Windlight a prerequisite to play? It's too much for my computer to handle!
A: Windlight is NOT required to play PhotoHunt.

Q: What is the aspect ratio of a typical Second Life snapshot?
A: 4:3 or 1024x768 pixels

Q: If I take a snapshot outside of the typical aspect ratio, will you stretch my entry panel to make my entry proportionate?
A: No. In order to make the contests run smoothly, we ask that you please make your snapshots fit within the 4:3 ratio, or accept any stretching that may occur otherwise.

Voting is done with a moderation style system. If you like a picture, You will be able to vote it up. (Add a vote). If you don't like a picture, you will be able to vote it down (removing a vote). There is no limit to the number of snapshots you may vote for, but you may vote only once for each snapshot.

WEEKLY THEME

Second Life Portrait Contest- Deadline: June 4th

Ananke Media Systems and Koinup are proud to announce the First Second Life Portrait Contest.

The Contest is sponsored by Ananke Media Systems and it is the first Koinup contest totally sponsored by a Second Life brand. The contest is restricted to Second Life residents and it is a photography contest; artistic media other than photography are not allowed.

Submissions will start on May 15th and will finish on June 4th.

Rules

In order to take part in the contest you need to be a member of Koinup. Registration is free and takes only a few seconds.
The contest theme is portrait. Please remember that not only close-up portraits are welcome, but also full-body photos. In any case, make sure that your photos focus on the avatar rather than the landscape or other elements. Self-portraits are welcome.
Photos can be submitted to the contest by posting them on Koinup. To submit a photo to the contest, please insert the tag slportraitcontest. If you wish, copy this tag and paste it onto your entries.
Photos can be taken inworld using any available means, such as Second Life photo studios. Photos can also be post-processed using programs such as Photoshop.
Photos already posted on Koinup by May 15th cannot be submitted to the contest. Please submit new works.
Each participant can submit up to three photos
Photos will remain on Koinup after the end of the contest.
Entering the contest implies the acceptance of these rules.

Winners and Prizes

There will be three winners.

Winners will be picked by a contest jury composed by Anna Tretiak (founder of Ananke Media Systems), Bella March (photographer in Second Life) and Therese Carfagno (SLNN.com reporter).
Each of the three winners will receive a fully-functional PhotoTools Pro package, valued in L$ 3750 and including lifetime updates. PhotoTools Pro includes PhotoStage, a powerful photography toolkit especially designed for studio modeling, portrait and still life shooting in Second Life, plus PhotoLite, a lightweight toolkit for on-location shooting.
Winning photos will also be displayed at The Workshop (Lady Vale 122, 106, 21) for a minimum of three weeks.

Ellie's Model Search: DEADLINE: June 1st

Ellie's Model Search.

Ellie's is looking for one more model to show their clothes on signs and mannequins. So what better way to find one more than hold a contest.

Note from SirGeorge is below:

The contest consists of three parts:
1. Entry Phase
2. Popular Vote Phase
3. Finalist Phase

Part 1: Entry Phase
The entry phase is the first part of our contest. This is the creative phase for all of our contestants.

We are asking that each entrant submit three photos for the contest. Two photos will be full body shots and the third will be an upper torso and face shot.

Each entrant must submit photos using at least two Ellie's Store outfits. Which outfits do not matter, but please do not abuse using the free outfits that are available on the hunts (I do not want everyone looking the same).

Please make sure to take some time with your pictures. Such things as lighting, background, shape, skin, hair, jewelry, manicure, shoes and so forth will make the difference when you get to Part 2 and espically Part 3.

Please make sure all of your pictures are full permissions.

FYI....there are three (3) N30 photo machines on the roof of Ellie's that are free of charge to use.

When you are finished, please drop a notecard in the mailbox at Ellie's in Galactica with the title "Ellie's Model Contest". Include your full permission photos and your name in the body of the notecard. If you have a preference for picture for Part 2, please let us know as well.

Part 1 begins on Saturday May 17th and will end at 11:59 pm SL time on Sunday June 1st.

Part 2: Popular Vote Phase
The voting will begin Monday June 2nd and end on Thursday June 5th at 11:59 pm SL time.

Part 2 is the popular voting phase. Every contestant will have their picture put up in Ellie's for voting.

The top 10 vote getters will move on to Part 3 of the model search.

Part 3: Finalist Phase
Part 3 will involve the top 10 vote getters from Part 2.

Each contestant in Part 3 will receive an outfit to take further pictures with (all contestants will receive the same outfit). This outfit will not be an outfit picked by any of the other finalists in the first 2 parts.

Each contestant will take two new photos with the new outfit: full shot and upper body/face.

The contestants will have until Sunday morning June 8th at 8:00 am SL time to submit new photos.

Judging will take place on Sunday June 8th and the winners will be posted on Monday June 9th.

Prizes:

1st Place: $1750 linden plus picking an outfit of your choice to become a mannequin inside Ellie's Main Store
2nd Place: $750 linden
3rd Place: $500 linden

Other rules:
1. If you entred a previous Ellie's model contest, you can enter this contest. The only rule is you need to get new outfits for this contest (I still have the photos of the previous contest).

MODEL'FEST Runway is located at the JCNY Collection Flagship Store and will be open for public viewing during this 30 Day Event. Showcase Models will be selected to take the runway at JCNY each week of the contest.

SHOWCASE MODELS
After entering your photos you wil be up for 'Showcase Modeling' during the month. A Collection of 20 models are up for showcase during each week of the contest. These models are hand selected by the judges to take the runway at the JCNY Flagship Store. SL Newspapers, Fashion Photographers, Model Agencies will all be randomly present to view the showcase models. If you are selected as a showcase model you will receive a group tag from JD Hansen of JCNY. You will be paid 15L an hr for being part of the showcase during the festival. The models who are showcased are considered to be the featured models of the current weeks entries and are not in any specific order of placement in the runnings. As a showcase model for MODEL'FEST its completly up to you to participate in the runway invite.

Watch your Manners!
There will be no voting for the models present. Showcase models will be presented as ambassadors of modeling and fashion in SL. Please do not engage in any foul language or argumentative public chat. JCNY Collection hosts the largest and longest running model search in Second Life. We've entered fashion shows across SL since 2006. THE CONTEST RULES FOR MODEL PORTFOLIO SUBMISSION:

Please follow these instructions carefully. Your submission will be trashed if not done correctly.

We require all entries to the exact details as follows:

1. OPEN THE SEARCH TAB: Click groups, Type JCNY Collection. Join the Group.
You must be in the JCNY Collection group to be elligable! Profiles will be checked.
MUST BE IN THE JCNY COLLECTION GROUP TO ENTER MODEL'FEST..

2. PORTFOLIOS must be a FOLDER with the text 'JCNY MODEL'FEST' -- 'Your Name'

3. A total of THREE of your best photos inside the FOLDER (**DO NOT put Pics inside notecards...)
Name each photo: 1- Your Name 2- Your Name, 3- Your Name
Lastly, use the JCNY Photo Studio to take a shot of yourself in front of the JCNY logo wall. This is the wall of JCNY Logos. We will accept 2 photos, plus your JCNY Logo wall shot. Use the JCNY Photo Studios at the Main Store for your logo wall photos or any other photos you need. The first photo will be a close up facial shot. The second photo will be a full body shot.
Any Photographers, or Agencys may be used for developing your style or photos.

4. A notecard detailing the creator of all clothing worn in the photos. As well as
any skins, hair, accessories and jewelry. Lastly, A Short paragraph about your
impression of JCNY and the Fashion Industry in Second Life.

*** All Photos MUST BE full permissions. This means Copy, Modify, Transfer. Any conflicts from Model Agencies or contracts, in the use of submitted photos, will be deleted from the contest.

5. Drop your Folder on JD Hansen's profile to submit. Make sure your submittal is
right the first time. Multiple submissions with different skins are accepted. Offline
entries will be auto received.

MODELING CONTEST - JULY FACE OF ZANPHORIA

Zanphoria Galleries and Studios is all about excellence and elegance. We are now putting a new face every month to that philosophy.

WINNER WILL RECEIVE:

1000L
Will be the Zanphoria Ad Model for the month (and we advertise aggressively-Model name on the ads)
One free month on the Zanphoria AdBoards (300L value)
Will be one of the chosen paid models for 2 shows in the Gallery (usually 1 hr @ 200L per hour.)
A photoshoot with the Zanphoria photographer; photos softly edited and enhanced; and a full perm portfolio book with the 10 best shots.

TO ENTER THE CONTEST:

PLEASE read the few rules below these instructions.
JOIN the Zanphoria Group
PLACE YOUR PHOTO IN THE VOTING BOARD (any photo you desire, no nudity - you may want to keep in mind that Zanphoria is about elegance. That can come through in a gown, lingerie or just the style of photo but you might want to lean toward a more elegant feel.) The board will deliver instructions on how to upload your image and note if you need it.

Tell us briefly how you would describe your typical style.

Please feel free to include up to 5 additional photos in the notecard.

Entries and voting will be ongoing. We will close the board to entries and votes on June 15th. The winner will be announced on June 25th and the photo shoot of the winner will need to be during the last week of June (so they are ready to use in July ads)

HOW THE WINNER WILL BE CHOSEN:

We realize that sometimes the "voting" contest can be little more than popularity contests, however it is effective and the preferred method. We also believe it shows enthusiasm to encourage your friends and associates to support your modeling by giving you their vote. But we will also use final judging. When the board closes, the top four (4) models with the most votes will be reviewed by a panel of 4 judges in the industry and a final winner will be chosen. The 4 finalists will be asked to submit a notecard with additional photos. PLEASE NOTE, it is possible that the model among those 4 with the most votes will not be judged the final winner. The voting board will determine the 4 finalists and the winner will be chosen by the judges.

A FEW LITTLE RULES
1. You may NOT include freelance information and/or rates on the voting board. You may have one photo and a notecard with general information about yourself. However, we do recommend you lease a regular Zanphoria AdBoard where you can put your photo and anything you like in the notecard. You are NOT required to lease one of the regular AdBoards to enter the contest.
2. If we discover you have paid anyone for votes, you will be disqualified.
3. Any attempts to manipulate the board will result in disqualification.

Scarlett Niven introduces her new venture, ScarlettCast @ Digital Image.

Using her RL voice and lip syncing technology to match her spoken words, Scarlett will be utilizing snapshot slideshows and video segments from SL on the various topics listed in the introduction video and presenting it in a news-cast fashion.

With each monthly installment, Scarlett is holding a contest she calls "My Favorite Looks". Scarlett will be pick one winner per month from the submitted photos.

Contestants should submit a folder labeled - ScarlettCast/My Favorite Looks - (YOUR NAME).
Please submit only 1 photo per entry with details on what is being worn.

Contest begins April 10th and runs until June30th 2008

What do you need?

1. A great avatar
2. Join In-world group "Son!a"
3. Contact "Sonia28 Jie" to get your package (starting April 10th and not before that please)

How it works:

Picture 1: Each model will be given a set "necklace and earrings" for free.The model must take a 1st picture wearing this set. The picture must present not only the beauty of the model, but also bring the best in the necklace and earrings she is wearing.
Picture 2: Simply take another picture of yourself wearing any item of jewelry or garment from Son!a's Boutique.
Picture 3: Your Choice!
Very important ALL PICTURES MUST BE FULL PERM.. and each week one model will be selected "the model of the week" till the final result.
The picture might be adjusted in Photoshop and retouched.
Create a folder in your inventory and name it: Son!a contest summer model:
Upload the photos and name them: Son!a contest summer model: 1-2 & 3
Create a note card describing your look

The Violent Nightmare Fashion Show ~ May 21st at 7 PM SL

You can submit your entries from May 2nd until May 16th at 11:59 PM SL. The winners will be notified and announced on May 17th.

How to enter:

1. Take some photos of you rocking your favorite Sn@tch outfit, Philotic Energy hair, Nomine skin, and/or with your favorite Vital pose. At least one item or pose in your submission must be from *one* of these four designers. The SLURL for each store is included below. Show us how you wear it - extra points for creativity! No explicit pornography, please. We don't actually want to see yer sn@tch!

2. A minimum of postprocessing is allowed, but major photoshopping is *not* encouraged. We're looking for models that fit our theme for the show and express themselves with a unique style, not the best photoshop artists.

3. In order to take part in the search, you must have a Flickr account. You can sign up for free at www.flickr.com if you don't already have one.

4. Join the Sn@tch Flickr group and submit up to 3 photos to the group. In your description, you must include what item you are wearing or what pose you're using that is from one of the four designers. Any picture that fails to identify which item or pose they are using will be disqualified.

5. Submit your photos by 11:59 PM SL on Friday, May 16th! Seriously, this is the deadline - no sob stories!

6. You must be available to be in the show at 7 PM SL on May 21st. We may need you for a rehearsal and fitting, and we'll try to give you as much advance notice as possible.
