Ananke Media Systems and Koinup are proud to announce the First Second Life Portrait Contest.
The Contest is sponsored by Ananke Media Systems and it is the first Koinup contest totally sponsored by a Second Life brand. The contest is restricted to Second Life residents and it is a photography contest; artistic media other than photography are not allowed.
Submissions will start on May 15th and will finish on June 4th.
Rules
- In order to take part in the contest you need to be a member of Koinup. Registration is free and takes only a few seconds.
- The contest theme is portrait. Please remember that not only close-up portraits are welcome, but also full-body photos. In any case, make sure that your photos focus on the avatar rather than the landscape or other elements. Self-portraits are welcome.
- Photos can be submitted to the contest by posting them on Koinup. To submit a photo to the contest, please insert the tag slportraitcontest. If you wish, copy this tag and paste it onto your entries.
- Photos can be taken inworld using any available means, such as Second Life photo studios. Photos can also be post-processed using programs such as Photoshop.
- Photos already posted on Koinup by May 15th cannot be submitted to the contest. Please submit new works.
- Each participant can submit up to three photos
- Photos will remain on Koinup after the end of the contest.
- Entering the contest implies the acceptance of these rules.
Winners and Prizes
There will be three winners.
- Winners will be picked by a contest jury composed by Anna Tretiak (founder of Ananke Media Systems), Bella March (photographer in Second Life) and Therese Carfagno (SLNN.com reporter).
- Each of the three winners will receive a fully-functional PhotoTools Pro package, valued in L$ 3750 and including lifetime updates. PhotoTools Pro includes PhotoStage, a powerful photography toolkit especially designed for studio modeling, portrait and still life shooting in Second Life, plus PhotoLite, a lightweight toolkit for on-location shooting.
- Winning photos will also be displayed at The Workshop (Lady Vale 122, 106, 21) for a minimum of three weeks.
- Winners will be announced on the Koinup blog and on the Ananke Media Systems web site by June 16th
- In order to select the winners, the contest jury will focus on assessing the following aspects:
- Aesthetics (i.e. how beautiful each photo is)
- Technique (i.e. how well executed it is)
- Narrative (i.e. the photo's ability to tell a story)
